Remembrance Sunday parade and service on Sunday 8 November

Albrighton will mark Remembrance Sunday on 8 November with a parade to the War Memorial and a two-minute silence at 11am. Rolling road closures will be in place on Newport Road and the High Street.

Albrighton and Donington Parish Council has published arrangements for Remembrance Sunday on Sunday 8 November 2026, when the village will gather to honour those who have served and given their lives in conflicts past and present.

Parade and service

A Remembrance Sunday parade will make its way along the High Street and Newport Road to the War Memorial beside Rectory Road. The Act of Remembrance and the two-minute silence will take place at the memorial at 11am. The notice does not give a start time for the parade, so anyone wishing to watch should check closer to the day.

Laying wreaths

After the service, members are invited to lay poppy wreaths at the war memorial graves. The parish council said residents are welcome to come along and take part.

Rolling road closures

Temporary rolling closures will be in place while the parade passes:

  • Newport Road, between Bowling Green Lane and Church Road
  • High Street, between Church Road and Cross Road

Stewards will manage the closures and roads will reopen as soon as it is safe. No closure times have been published. Drivers are advised to plan ahead, allow extra time and follow the stewards. The diversion route is shown on One.Network, and Shropshire Council Customer Services can help on 0345 678 9006.

More information

The parish council office is in the Library Building on Station Road and can be reached on 01902 375455 on weekdays. The full notice is on the parish council website.
