Free Remembrance service under the Vulcan at RAF Museum Midlands

RAF Museum Midlands at Cosford will hold a free Remembrance service in its National Cold War Exhibition on Sunday 8 November, starting at 10:45am.

RAF Museum Midlands at Cosford has announced that it will hold a Remembrance Day service on Sunday 8 November 2026 to honour members of the armed forces who lost their lives on duty. The service is free and open to everyone.

Where and when

The service will take place beneath the Avro Vulcan bomber in the museum's National Cold War Exhibition. The museum asks visitors to arrive by 10:30am, ready for the service to begin at 10:45am. The postcode for the museum is TF11 8UP, and the museum recommends using WV7 3EU for sat nav.

Seats are limited and will be given out on a first come, first served basis, although there will also be room to stand.

What the service includes

RAF Cosford's Station Chaplain, Deacon (Squadron Leader) Anthony Curran, will lead the service. The Cosford Military Wives Choir will sing hymns, and the programme includes:

  • readings and prayers
  • the sounding of The Last Post
  • a two-minute silence
  • the laying of wreaths for those who have fallen in service

The museum's public events manager, Shannon Bent, said the service was a chance to pay tribute to those who gave their lives and to recognise the lasting effect on their families and communities. She added that the museum would welcome visitors as they "pause and remember them".

After the service, visitors are free to stay and explore the museum's galleries, where entry is also free.

Remembrance in Albrighton the same day

Albrighton's own Remembrance Sunday parade and Act of Remembrance also take place on Sunday 8 November, with the two-minute silence at the War Memorial at 11am. The two events take place on the same morning. Details of the village parade and road closures are in our Remembrance Sunday post.

Getting there

Visitors coming by train can walk from Cosford station using the new footpath to the museum, which opened in October. More details are on the RAF Museum website.
