Fragrance shop to open in Albrighton's former Barclays bank

The Scent Room opens on Station Road at 9am on Saturday 31 October, bringing the old bank frontage back into public use for the first time in about 16 years.

A fragrance shop called The Scent Room is due to open in the former Barclays bank building on Station Road, Albrighton, at 9am on Saturday 31 October 2026.

The shop is run by Shropshire Design, the furniture and interiors business founded by Peter Snowdon and Wesley Fellows, which already occupies the rest of the building. Opening the shop means the old bank frontage will be used by the public again for the first time since the branch closed.

A long-empty building

Barclays closed its Albrighton branch around 16 years ago, and the building then stood empty for more than a decade. A plan to turn it into flats was put forward in 2011 but never went ahead.

Mr Snowdon and Mr Fellows bought the run-down building at auction in 2022 and moved their furniture and interiors business into it. The new shop now completes the return of the front of the building to everyday use.

Speaking to the Shropshire Star and the Express and Star, Mr Snowdon said reopening the storefront was "a particularly special moment" for the business, and that they hoped it would give people "another reason to come into Albrighton".

Visiting

The Scent Room opens at 9am on Saturday 31 October. Regular opening hours and the full range of products had not been announced when this story was published, so check with Shropshire Design for the latest details before making a special trip.
