The Crown shortlisted at the Great British Pub Awards

The High Street pub was named a national finalist for Marston's Pub of the Year 2026.

The Crown on Albrighton High Street made the national shortlist for Marston's Pub of the Year at the 2026 Great British Pub Awards. Often called the Oscars of the pub trade, the awards are run by trade paper The Morning Advertiser and recognise pubs for hospitality, standards and the part they play in their communities.

What the team said

General manager Michelle Edwina Henderson said the shortlisting was a big moment for the whole team and reflected the effort they put into making The Crown welcoming and well run. She also credited the regulars who give the pub its character.

Lee Marsh, area operations manager at Marston's, praised Michelle, Alan and the staff for the care and consistency behind the nomination.

How the awards work

After the shortlist was announced, judges visited each finalist in person over the summer, followed by a panel interview. Winners were announced at the First Direct Bank Arena in Leeds on 23 September.

We will add the result here once confirmed. If you were there, let us know.

Visiting

The Crown is on the High Street (WV7 3JA), phone 01902 372204. It also hosted the finish of the Great Green Belt Walk in September.
