Library celebrates ten years in community hands

A decade after the parish council took over Albrighton Library, it has grown into one of the village's busiest community spaces.

Albrighton and Donington Library marked ten years under parish council management on 18 April 2026. Staff held an afternoon tea for residents the day before and featured on BBC Radio Shropshire's breakfast show.

From library to community hub

The parish council took over the running of the library from Shropshire Council in 2016. Since then it has become a meeting place as much as a place to borrow books, and it is also home to the parish council office.
